Texas man jailed for stalking Taylor Swift after bombarding her with more than 40 letters and e-mails

A man has been jailed for stalking Taylor Swift after bombarding her with dozens of letters and e-mails.

Eric Swarbrick, from Austin, Texas, pleaded guilty to stalking and sending threatening correspondence to the pop star's former record label.

A federal judge sentenced him to 30 months in prison during a sentence hearing in Nashville on Wednesday.

The terms of the sentence includes three years of supervised release.

Eric Swarbrick, from Austin, Texas, pleaded guilty to stalking and sending threatening correspondence to the pop star's former record label (Metro Nashville Police)

They were agreed on by prosecutors in a plea agreement that Swarbrick entered in 2019.

Big Machine Records started receiving letters from Swarbrick in January 2018, asking CEO Scott Borchetta to introduce him to Swift, according to the complaint.

Swarbrick sent more than 40 letters and emails to the record label.

Over time, the letters became more violent and threatening.

On three occasions Swarbrick drove to Nashville to personally deliver them and wandered the halls of Big Machines' offices.

He was arrested on August 2 by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Swarbrick continued to contact Big Machine Records after he was released, the court was told.

The Standard has contacted Swift's representatives for comment.
