Texas Man Arrested For Impersonating Police Officer At Racing Event

Shaun Arnold attempted to pull over undercover deputies at a racing event.

A Texas man was recently arrested for impersonating a police officer after a concerning incident at a racing event in Houston. The individual, Shaun Arnold, was apprehended by authorities for attempting to pull over undercover Harris County sheriff's deputies while driving a white Hyundai Santa Fe equipped with flashing red and blue lights and sirens.

The deputies quickly realized that something was amiss and promptly alerted marked Harris County units, leading to a pursuit of Arnold until he was eventually stopped. Upon inspection, Arnold was discovered to be wearing a uniform shirt, a bulletproof vest, a body-worn camera, and a security badge. Additionally, he was found in possession of a BB gun, a Taser, police radios, and various other law enforcement equipment, indicating a deliberate attempt to deceive others.

Further investigation revealed that Arnold had a history of similar offenses, with multiple prior arrests for impersonating a police officer in Texas, Illinois, and Missouri. He is also a convicted felon with a record of various other offenses in Missouri, including stealing motor vehicles and theft.

Arnold now faces charges of impersonating a police officer and being a felon in possession of body armor, with a total bond set at $15,000. The sheriff's office has expressed concerns that there may be additional victims and is urging anyone with relevant information about Arnold to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
