Texas has no time for monolith mystery as latest slab is removed from El Paso car park within hours

Everything is bigger in Texas. Unless it's a monolith.

While the once-mysterious obelisks are all the rage from Utah to Romania, nobody's got time for that in El Paso's Upper Valley where the latest conversation piece disappeared almost immediately.

A video posted on Instagram by the group Fit Fam El Paso showed a carload of masked removalists taking away the monolith that appeared only hours earlier in a parking lot near Ardovino's Pizza restaurant on Monday night.

"And just like that... the El Paso monolith was gone," Fit Fam wrote.

It is the latest sighting set off by a Utah helicopter crew discovering a monolith in the Utah desert before it disappeared as mysteriously as it arrived.

The New Mexico-based artists collective called The Most Famous Artist has intimated that it was behind the Utah monolith after announcing on Instagram that they're selling "Authentic Alien Monoliths" as-a-service for a steal at $45,000.

Founder Matty Mo said in an Instagram Live on Monday that "he didn't not do the monolith".

"I am both the originator and the guy who is just capitalizing on it as a result of the artefacts that were created to seed the story which propagated the myth," he told podcaster Heidi Zuckerman

Mr Mo later told Insider that he could confirm "we have installed monoliths", but for legal reasons couldn't say more.

Having not explicitly confirmed which of the monoliths they're responsible for, it remains unclear if each of the sculptures seen in Utah, California, Romania, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and now Texas are centrally organized or an idea that's spreading like the invasive alien species they foretell.
