Why Lamar Will Win
The Cardinals are unbeaten with a strong defense that’s been great at getting into the backfield to go along with the third-best offense so far in the FCS.
The O might have struggled a bit in the overtime win over Mississippi Valley State, but the defense lived behind the line. A week after dealing with Clemson, and with the SEC opener against Auburn coming up, there’s a chance an unfocused and slightly beaten up A&M team could have a few problems on the offensive front. However …
Why Texas A&M Will Win
Lamar has a slew of fumbling issues. As if going against an Aggie team that needs a passing game tune-up wasn’t enough, having problems holding on to the ball should turn the game into a rout in a big hurry.
The Aggie secondary has five picks so far – although, just one came against Trevor Lawrence – and the defensive front should keep the Lamar ground game from generating much of anything.

Kellen Mond needs to get his groove back. He was sharp against Texas State, but to be harsh, he took the Aggies out of the Clemson game early on with way too many misfires. Before dealing with Auburn, the timing has to be back, and he has to readjust and reconnect. It’s why A&M is paying Lamar for the scrimmage.
