Texans WR Will Fuller confident despite the fact ‘being injured sucks’

What would happen if Will Fuller played a full season for the Houston Texans? The averages of his career totals indicate that he would record over 1,056 yards and catch 10 touchdown passes. That type of production is borderline Pro Bowl worthy.

However, the former 2016 first-round pick’s career has not gone in that trajectory. With 22 games missed, a full season plus six games, Fuller’s tenure in Houston has been pocked with frustration.

“Being injured sucks, but I’m confident,” Fuller said. “Every time I go back out on the field, I don’t think about what happened last week or if I was injured last week. I always feel like I’m going to have a big game or whatever.”

Fuller can have a “big game or whatever,” which is what adds to the exasperation surrounding his availability. The former Notre Dame product was the catalyst behind the Texans’ 53-32 beat down of the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. Fuller produced 14 catches for 217 yards and three touchdowns.

Even though Fuller has missed time in his career, from hamstring injuries to ACL tears, he doesn’t let the past maladies get him down.

“I don’t really dwell on injuries,” said Fuller. “I know they happen, but I always stay confident and just try to do my best to help the team win.”

If the Texans can have Fuller for 16 games in 2020, there is no reason to expect Houston to fall out of playoff contention. Combined with Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb, Fuller provides quarterback Deshaun Watson with a trio of speedy, quick options that should put defensive coordinators in conflict each week.
