Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins to appear in HBO series Ballers

Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has taken his first step into Hollywood, by announcing that he will be appearing in season five of the HBO series “Ballers.”

Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Rob Corddry, the series depicts the lives and careers of two sports agents trying to make an impact in the lives of athletes, as well as righting some of the wrongs in the sports world. Hopkins will follow in the footsteps of fellow NFL superstars Terrell Suggs, Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackson, Don Shula, Larry Csonka, Ndomakong Suh, Eddie George, and Julian Edelman to name but a few of the current and former footballers who have appeared in the series.

While it is unclear as of yet how big Hopkins’ role in the series will be, whether it is a one-off appearance or a recurring role such as that of Suggs or Csonka, the three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro selection is not the first Texan to make the move to the silver screen.

Back in 2014, then Texans running back and former teammate of Hopkins Arian Foster took on the role as Ray Jennings in the movie ‘Draft Day. Starring alongside Jennifer Garner, Kevin Costner, Chadwick Boseman, and Terry Crews, Foster played a troubled rookie running back entering the NFL Draft.

Only time will tell whether these Texans legends will ever share screen time, but as it stands fans can only hope.
