Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins set record for 0 drops

Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins had an impressive 2018 campaign, as he collected his second straight All-Pro selection and tied Andre Johnson’s single-season franchise record with 115 catches. Unlike the inaugural Texans Ring of Honor member, Hopkins did it without a single drop.

The former 2013 first-round pick’s ability to haul in 105 catchable passes without a drop was a Pro Football Focus record, the analytics site announced Sunday.

PFF has been keeping grades since the 2006 season. So, while it is only 13 seasons of data compared to the 99 years of NFL football, it is nonetheless impressive given it is the era of high-powered passing offenses with playmakers galore from tight end Travis Kelce to receiver Antonio Brown to running back Todd Gurley. Hopkins did not have a solitary drop after surpassing the century mark for catchable passes.

The three-time Pro Bowler collected 1,572 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns through 16 starts in 2018.

“I have a lot of trust in Hop,” quarterback Deshaun Watson said on Jan. 1. “The stats speaks for themselves. He’s just kind of one of those guys that we’re just locked in on the same page regardless of how much practice time and reps we get throughout the week.”
