Houston Texans receiver Brandin Cooks is having a great start to the season statistically speaking.
The former New Orleans Saints 2014 first-round pick has tallied 322 receiving yards through three games, the most in team history. That is quite an impressive feat given the fact Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins also played for Houston.
Cooks chalks it up to being able to take advantage of the skills he was endowed with by his Creator long ago.
“I’m blessed, man,” Cooks said. “God’s given me a gift to play this game at a high level since I was a little kid. I’m just grateful for the gift and I try to take advantage of it the best way that I can, be the best player I can, continue to work on my craft, being confident and knowing who I am, playing multiple teams.”
Cooks also says that a trust in the process has also been key to his decent start to the season.
Said Cooks: “When you really trust in the process, you trust in your craft, you put in the work, everything else takes care of itself. I’m honored, but at the end of the day, we are just getting started. At the end of the day, just got to continue to work and be the best I can and continue to lead those around me. It’s not all about me, it’s about everyone. If we can get some wins here, it’ll be even better.”
The Texans can start getting some wins Sunday when they take on the 2-1 Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium. It will take another magnificent performance from Cooks, who is averaging 107.3 receiving yards per game. Going against the Bills’ formidable secondary Taron Johnson, Levi Wallace, and Tre’Davious White will make it all the more challenging.
