Texans WR Brandin Cooks has no emotions facing the Rams

It is only fitting that Brandin Cooks would face the Los Angeles Rams the week before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 2.

The Rams were the most recent team to trade Cooks, who has been traded three times in his career. In March 2020, the Rams traded the receiver to the Houston Texans.

The former New Orleans Saints 2014 first-round pick isn’t going to get caught up in facing a former team of his. In fact, Cooks has learned to quell such emotions a long time ago.

“I learned the first time being traded to not get your emotions too high going into a game like this,” Cooks said. “I have a lot of respect for that organization, a lot of friends still over there.”

Cooks’ final season with the Rams wasn’t memorable as he caught 42 passes for 583 yards and two touchdowns through 14 games. It was the first time in his career aside from his rookie year that Cooks failed to eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving mark.

Although Cooks may not have any emotions about the matchup, he always wants to come out the victor.

Said Cooks: “At the end of the day, definitely want to beat them, but from an emotional standpoint, it’s just another game to get better and go out there and play the best ball that I can possibly play.”

In Cooks’ other “revenge game” this season, Week 5 versus the New England Patriots, he caught three passes for 23 yards. The Texans fell 25-22 at NRG Stadium.
