Texans will take a look at WR Keke Coutee in Houston to evaluate injury

It seemed like a continuation of 2018 when Houston Texans receiver Keke Coutee left Thursday night’s 28-26 loss to the Green Bay Packers on a cart.

As the former 2018 fourth-round pick from Texas Tech was hauled into the tunnel of Lambeau Field, it seemed Coutee would be sidelined well into the regular season or maybe not play altogether.

After a deleted-tweet, and followup reports, it appears Coutee will be well enough to return for the Texans after sustaining an ankle injury. Now, the determination has to be made as to whether that includes any of the preseason.

“When we get back to Houston, we’ll look at it,” coach Bill O’Brien told the media after the loss. “We’ll look at all the guys. That’s the way it is when you play a game. Certain guys got banged up tonight. That’s all right. I don’t think anything’s serious. We’ll know more about it when we get back.”

Coutee missed 10 games in 2018 battling chronic hamstring issues that flared up in training camp. As Coutee rounded the corner of the first week of camp and was available for the preseason opener, it appeared that all of his injury troubles were a thing of the past.

As the club returns to Houston and evaluates his injury, only then can it be ascertained whether it’s just a “minor setback,” as Coutee tweeted.
