Texans vs. Bills second quarter recap: Tyler Bass kicks Buffalo ahead 16-0

Texans vs. Bills first quarter recap

Bills 4th drive — It looked like it was going to be a drive that ends in six with QB Josh Allen connecting with WR Stefon Diggs on a 31-yard pass to Houston’s 19-yard line. But DE Whitney Mercilus sacked Allen on the ensuing first down and killed the drive. Buffalo settled for a 33-yard K Tyler Bass field goal. Bills, 10-0

Texans 5th drive — Houston once again has trouble gaining yards with the run and leaves it up to QB Davis Mills to convert a third-and-9 from their own 12-yard line. The rookie takes a sack back at Houston’s 2-yard line.

Bills 5th drive — Buffalo may not be generating touchdown, but they are putting together points on their drive. A seven-play, 41-yard drive ends with Bass connecting on a 26-yard field goal. Bills, 13-0

Texans 6th drive — Once more, Houston goes with a conservative approach with runs and having Mills try to bail them out on third down. He goes down with a sack.

Bills 6th drive — The Texans caught a break when Allen fumbled the snap on a third-and-1 from the Houston 39-yard line. The Bills went for it on fourth-and-3, but LB Kamu Grugier-Hill knocked the ball away.

Texans 7th drive — Houston gets a face mask call on the first play of the drive; TE Pharaoh Brown is the offender. The drive basically died from there. Mills had a pass tipped and CB Micah Hyde picks it off.

Bills 7th drive — Buffalo’s drive stalled on a third-and-goal from the Texans’ 2-yard line. Bass connected on a 21-yard field goal. Bills, 16-0

Texans 8th drive — The Texans just handed it off to RB Mark Ingram to get to halftime. Buffalo will get the ball back to start the second half.
