Texans trade third-round pick to Raiders for CB Gareon Conley

How bad is the Houston Texans’ cornerback situation? Here’s an indication: They just traded a third-round pick to the Oakland Raiders for cornerback Gareon Conley.

The Texans – who are thin at cornerback with injuries to Bradley Roby, Johnathan Joseph and Phillip Gaines – acquired the former 2017 first-round pick out of Ohio State.

The last first-round pick of the Jack Del Rio era, Conley provides the Texans with immediate depth. At 6 feet and 195 pounds, Conley has virtually the same build as Roby, who is out for a month with a hamstring injury.

Conley collected four interceptions, including a pick-six, along with 18 pass breakups and 67 combined tackles in 23 career games, 20 of which he started.

In Week 7’s 42-24 loss at the Green Bay Packers, Conley had six combined tackles on the afternoon as the Raiders dropped to 3-3 on the season.
