Texans to take part in Packers’ tradition of riding bikes to training camp

The Houston Texans will join one of the time-honored traditions of Green Bay Packers training camp and ride bikes while partaking in joint practices at Lambeau Field.

According to Packers CEO and president Mark Murphy, the Texans will be a part of the tradition while in Titletown.

“The Texans will be riding bicycles. We need all the kids to come out,” Murphy said via Richard Ryman of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, who grew up as a Packers fan and attended nearby Pewaukee High School, expressed his excitement about the announcement on Twitter.

Riding bicycles from the locker room to practice fields during camp is a storied tradition in Green Bay. Details on Houston’s ride routine will be revealed at a later date.

The Texans and Packers will hold joint practices Aug. 5-6 ahead of their Aug. 8 preseason opener at Lambeau Field.
