Texans to sign former Jags safety Tashaun Gipson

Upon his release, former Jacksonville Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson was thought to be a player who would get significant interest on the open market and it appears he’s already found a new team. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jags longtime rivals, the Houston Texans, will sign the veteran.

Gipson, 28, was a key member of the Jags’ defense since signing in 2016. The Texans are a team who’ve witnessed what he can do firsthand after he took the field against them six times during his tenure in Jacksonville. Additionally, the Texans could use some help after losing safety Tyrann Mathieu to the Kansas City Chiefs Monday.

Gipson will now be joining his former Jag comrade Aaron Colvin, who signed with the team last season. With the Texans having an elite pass rush, Gipson should feel right at home after coming off a 2018 campaign in which he racked up 54 tackles and a interception.
