Texans tied with Eagles as 6th-best free agent destination

Believe it or not, but the Houston Texans are actually considered one of the top-10 free agent destinations if money wasn’t a factor.

According to an unofficial poll conducted by Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated, 15 anonymous agents voted on the best and worst cities for free agents. Houston and the Philadelphia Eagles were tied for the sixth-most attractive free agent destination.

Klemko’s question: “If you polled your clients about the most and least desirable teams to play for, which teams do you think would end up in the Top 5 and which would be in the Bottom 5?”

Some agents said that their clients look at winning tradition, playing time, market, the area of the country, weather, and even income tax laws. Some just take a look at the night life.

Of course, money does factor into free agent negotiations, and the Texans have decided to be “selectively aggressive” in free agency in 2019. So far, the Texans have netted safety Tashaun Gipson while losing defensive back Kareem Jackson and safety Tyrann Mathieu.
