Texans sign veteran tight end Logan Paulsen

After making several major trades this past weekend, the Houston Texans continue to make changes to their roster with one week left before the start of the regular season. On Monday, the Texans signed veteran tight end Logan Paulsen, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

The 32-year-old tight end from UCLA is joining the Texans following his release from the Atlanta Falcons, where he recorded 91 yards and one touchdown across 15 games during the 2018 season.

With the addition of Paulsen, the Texans now have a total of six tight ends on their current roster (Jordan Thomas, Jordan Akins, Darren Fells, Jerrell Adams, and Kahale Warring), but two remain inactive ahead of their regular-season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

Last Thursday, Jordan Thomas sustained a rib injury during the Texans’ 22-10 preseason loss against the Los Angeles Rams, while Kahale Warring remains under NFL concussion protocol following a hit he took during the Texans’ joint practice against the Green Bay Packers in August.

Since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2010, Paulsen has spent the majority of his career playing on four different franchises in a span of eight years. His longest tenure came as a member of the Washington Redskins, where recorded 801 yards on 79 receptions, and six touchdowns from 2010-2014.

In addition to the Redskins and Falcons, Paulsen also spent a short amount of time as a member of the Chicago Bears (2016) and San Francisco 49ers (2017) prior to joining the Houston Texans.
