Texans sign tight end Darren Fells to 1-year contract

Nearly a week into NFL free agency 2019, and the Houston Texans are making moves at tight end.

The club has signed tight end Darren Fells, formerly of the Cleveland Browns, to a one-year contract.

The 32-year-old from UC Irvine caught 11 passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns with the Browns in 2018. Since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks, Fells has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals (2014-16) and Detroit Lions, catching a total of 68 passes for 830 yards and 10 touchdowns in 70 career games, 48 of which he started.

Fells will join a tight end corps that features Ryan Griffin, Jordan Thomas, and Jordan Akins.
