Texans sign former Falcons G Justin McCray

The Houston Texans are adding veteran depth to the interior of their offensive line.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Texans are signing former Atlanta Falcons guard Justin McCray to a two-year contract worth $4 million. The deal also includes a $500,000 signing bonus with $2 million available in incentives.

McCray played 10 games for the Falcons in 2020, starting in two of them. Prior to joining the Falcons, the 6-3, 317-pound interior offensive lineman played for the Cleveland Browns in 2019, appearing in 15 games and starting in four of them.

The Green Bay Packers were the first NFL team that gave McCray an opportunity to truly showcase his talents. At first, he played 13 games at right tackle, starting in eight of them, before being kicked inside to guard in 2018, where he played 12 games and started in five of them.

McCray’s foray into the NFL was in 2014 as an undrafted free agent from Central Florida. McCray spent his rookie season on the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad, and ultimately was waived after a second full preseason with them in 2015. McCray was in the Arena Football League for two seasons before getting another shot in the NFL with the Packers.
