Texans should look to sign offensive tackle Donald Penn

The Houston Texans have yet to find a full-time replacement for Brian Gaine at general manager, but there are still moves the club must make before training camp. One is offensive line depth, and Donald Penn could still prove to be a solid signing.

At 36 years old the former Utah State standout still has some gas in the tank. Coach Bill O’Brien or Cal McNair should pick up the phone and make the call. Adding depth like Penn would really make the Texans offensive line a little bit better than it was a month ago.

According to Pro Football Focus, Penn was the highest-graded offensive player in four of his past five seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

Penn may not start, but for depth and signed to a very reasonable deal, this move makes to much sense not to at least try and see what Penn is looking for in terms of salary and years on a contract.

With training camp right around the corner, the Texans need all the help they can get in the trenches.
