Texans S Tashaun Gipson will be a game-time decision against the Jaguars

Houston Texans safety Tashaun Gipson missed Week 8’s win over the Oakland Raiders with wrist and back injuries. The team has yet to rule him out for Week 9’s bout with the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Gipson practiced in a limited fashion on Wednesday. Before practice, coach Bill O’Brien hinted that his availability in practice could sway if he will play or not on Sunday.

“I would say game time. I would say we’ve got to see how it goes today, and then we’ll see,” said O’Brien before practice. “It’s definitely day to day, but I would say that puts it in the game time category.”

Gipson is expected to travel with the team to London on Thursday. From there, the Texans staff will monitor the situation, without the luxury of a Thursday or Friday practice.

Gipson, 29, is a vital part of Houston’s success in 2019. Known as the “tight end killer,” he has accepted the task of handling opponents’ best tight ends. Not as a coincidence, he has done an excellent job stopping them.

If Gipson is out, Houston will rely on Jahleel Addae, Mike Adams, and A.J. Moore to handle safety duties.
