Texans S Justin Reid says QB Tyrod Taylor is a ‘true leader’

The Houston Texans were on a seven-game losing streak after losing Tyrod Taylor to a hamstring strain in Week 2.

Rookie quarterback Davis Mills took all of the starts while Taylor was on injured reserve.

The expectation was the Texans would be more competitive, and they were against the Miami Dolphins, another 1-7 club on a seven-game losing streak heading into Week 9. However, Taylor had his worst outing of the season with three interceptions and Houston falling to 1-8 with a 17-9 loss.

According to safety Justin Reid, the Texans are disappointed they weren’t able to get off the schneid with the former Pro Bowler coming back, but believe in Taylor and the team’s ability to rally.

“He’s hard on himself, too,” said Reid. “He’s going to come back and he’s going to be ready to go. But you did feel it though even with his leadership and presence back, that there was just a better energy because he’s a true leader on this team and guys follow behind him and follow behind his lead. He’s one of our leaders. I’m going continue to fight behind him, everyone on the defense and everyone on the team is going to continue to fight behind him.”

The Texans take on the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 21 at Nissan Stadium. Houston has Week 10 off.
