Texans S Justin Reid discusses Broncos DB Kareem Jackson’s 5 P’s

The Houston Texans are lucky to have one of the NFL’s brightest young defensive stars on their roster in safety Justin Reid. The Stanford product was a standout his rookie campaign and came into this, just his second year, as a starter with big expectations on his shoulders.

Despite this, when asked on the “Texans Talk Podcast” about whether or not he feels any added pressure this year his answer was comfortingly calm.

“No, I don’t think there’s any more pressure,” said Reid who went on to thank one particular former teammate for this. “Because the five P’s that my guy Kareem (Jackson) told me about last year: Proper preparation prevents poor performance.

“So I prepare hard all throughout the week with film study, training, with my eating habits, so Sunday’s are just fun.”

The 31-year-old Jackson, now with the Denver Broncos, spent the first nine years of his NFL career with the Texans and became a fan and locker room favorite. One of the elder statesmen among the defensive backs last year, it’s clear the mark he left on Reid.

This important lesson is obviously paying off for Reid given his success to date, and it shows the positive legacy Jackson left behind him.
