Texans RT Tytus Howard is back at practice

Sixteen days after suffering a partially torn left MCL in Week 6’s win over Kansas City, Houston Texans right tackle Tytus Howard is back at practice, per multiple reports.

Howard has not practiced since sustaining the injury. He is wearing a bulky brace on his left knee. As coach Bill O’Brien alluded to on Monday, there is a possibility that he will play in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Houston’s first-round pick in 2019, Howard became the full-time starter at right tackle in Week 3. An Alabama State product, the 6-5, 322-pound Deshaun Watson bodyguard — as he would phrase it — impressed during his time with the starters.

The Texans used Roderick Johnson, Chris Clark and Dan Skipper in Howard’s absence. Neither were able to replicate the rookie’s success during their respective times in the starting line-up.

If Howard does not return against Jacksonville, expect him to do against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11; after Houston’s Week 10 bye.
