Texans rookie OL Tytus Howard leaves preseason game early

Houston Texans rookie offensive lineman Tytus Howard was having himself a good night against the Detroit Lions. Switching between both left guard and left tackle, the rookie allowed one sack at left tackle but kept his quarterback clean at guard.

After the Texans pulled their starters — including Howard — the rookie left the field early. According to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, Howard “walked to [the] locker room with trainers.”

Wilson did not that Howard walked out to the locker room. Later, the Houston Chronicle writer mentioned that Howard “remains out and getting treatment” and is not on the bench for the second half of football.

It’s unknown what Howard’s injury is, if he even sustained one at all. According to Adam Wexler of KPRC, Howard was getting his left hand looked at.

Indications don’t point to the ailment being severe. However, he likely won’t play the rest of the preseason Week 2 game. The rookie has been healthy for the entirety of training camp; at Alabama State, Howard suffered no significant injuries.
