Texans rookie DE Charles Omenihu stoked about facing the Packers

Preseason may be meaningless from a spectator’s point of view, but don’t tell that to the players.

Even though his whole career will be measured by what happens in the regular season, Houston Texans rookie defensive end Charles Omenihu is excited about making his NFL debut in the club’s preseason opener at the Green Bay Packers Thursday night.

The Texans drafted the former Texas Longhorn in Round 5 of the 2019 NFL draft. While Omenihu is a Rowlett High School alumnus, his heart has always been back in the city of his birth, Houston. Ironically, because of the combination of it being an exhibition game and Omenihu’s idol in high school, Jadeveon Clowney, holding out, the 6-6, 275-pound defensive end should have plenty of snaps to prove he belongs in the league and with Houston.

Omenihu first-team all-Big 12 honors last year at Texas and also took home the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year honor.
