Texans reportedly sign CB Josh Thompson to reserve-future deal

The Houston Texans brought in a young cornerback with special teams experience for the 2024 offseason after reportedly signing Josh Thompson to a reserve-future deal, per KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson.

Thompson, 25, was an undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2022. He began on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad in 2022 before he joined the Tennessee Titans active roster on Oct. 17 of that season. Thompson played three games – mostly on special teams – before he spent a month on injured reserve in the middle of the year.

He finished the year with 83 special teams snaps and recorded four tackles in six total games. Thompson was signed to the Titans practice squad two months into the 2023 season and remained there for the rest of the year.

Thompson will likely be a special teams camp body this offseason unless he can make a name for himself on the Texans special teams unit.
