Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins teams up with FC Bayern Munich for charity

Houston Texans superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins doesn’t just make moves on the field; he does so off of it too. In part of his latest charitable efforts, Hopkins is teaming up with German soccer club FC Bayern Munich, 2026 World Cup Bid Committee, and the Boys and Girls Club of Houston.

The program brought to light by Hopkins is called the Freekicks soccer program. It will help offer access to soccer for children aged 7-12, regardless of their background or financial status. They will provide uniforms. cleats, and shin guards to the participants and training sessions will go on for 90-minutes in the summer, fall, and spring.

To kick off the program, FC Bayern Munich great Giovane Eber joined to help with their first training session. Also in attendance was part of the soccer club’s brass, including chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, board member Jörg Wacker, senior VP Dr. Dieter Meyer, deputy VP Walter Mennekes and CEO of the USA subsidiary Rudolf Vidal, according to FCBayern.com.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the U.S. and Houston is one of 17 cities bidding to be one of the ten host cities.
