Texans RB Mark Ingram says he has ‘all the confidence’ in QB Davis Mills

The Houston Texans offense was clicking with Tyrod Taylor at quarterback.

Then, the former Pro Bowler strained his hamstring and left at halftime against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 with Houston tied 14-14.

Since then, rookie quarterback Davis Mills has filled in for Taylor, and the offense has mustered just 16 points amid two losses.

Despite the setbacks, running back Mark Ingram says that he has confidence in the rookie signal caller.

“I have all the confidence in him,” said Ingram. “He’s just so calm. He’s smooth. He’s collected. It doesn’t seem like it is too much for him. So, I’m sure with a week to be able prepare, to watch film, to take the practice reps, be able to have the mental, emotional, physical preparation it takes to go out there on Sunday and have success.

“I think he’s going to do a great job. We open up the playbook let him do his thing. I think he’s going to do a great job. We all just have to do our jobs and make it as easy on him as possible. And that just comes from us executing. Every man doing their jobs to the best of their ability. I think it’s important for us to make sure that we are staying on schedule, staying a head of the chains so he can operate and do his thing.”

Mills gets another shot to earn Ingram’s confidence Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time when the Texans go on the road to face the 2-1 Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.
