Texans RB Carlos Hyde nominated for FedEx Ground Player of the Week

Running back Carlos Hyde is earning a measure of recognition for his 100-yard game that helped the Houston Texans upend the Kansas City Chiefs 31-24 in Week 6 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Texans running back has been nominated for FedEx Ground Player of the Week for producing 166 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries in the win that improves Houston’s record to 4-2 on the season.

Hyde has some stiff competition. Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson rushed 24 times for 124 yards and a touchdown in Seattle’s 32-28 win over the Cleveland Browns. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson rushed 19 times for 152 yards and a touchdown in Baltimore’s 23-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, joining Michael Vick and Colin Kaepernick as the only three quarterback to rush for 150-plus yards in the Modern Era. Vick had two such games in 2002 and 2006, and Kaepernick had one in 2014.

To vote, fans can visit NFL.com/FedEx or check out the NFL’s official Twitter page. Voting ends Thursday at 2:00 p.m. CT.

The winner will have FedEx make a $2,000 donation in the winning players’ names to the USO.
