Texans rank No. 12 in Sports Illustrated’s post Super Bowl power rankings

The Houston Texans can’t get much respect from Sports Illustrated in the sports publication’s power rankings released in the aftermath of Super Bowl LIII.

The Texans, who won the AFC South with an 11-5 record but lost to the Indianapolis Colts 21-7 in the AFC wild-card at NRG Stadium, are 12th in Sports Illustrated’s power poll. In other words, among all the playoff teams, Sports Illustrated considers the Texans to be the worst at the conclusion of the 2018 NFL playoffs.

The Texans received two votes for 11th place and one vote for 13th.

Houston is entering an optimistic moment in the 2019 offseason. General manager Brian Gaine has a first and second round pick for the first time since taking over in 2018, and the club has $64.4 million in cap space. The club has the ability to fix the offensive line, address the aging cornerback corps, re-sign Jadeveon Clowney and Tyrann Mathieu, and possibly bring a younger, big play running back to Clutch City.
