Receiver Will Fuller was on fire when he and Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson linked up when they are both on the field together. In 2017 Fuller caught seven touchdowns in 10 games when Watson targeted the speedster from Notre Dame.
In 2018 Fuller caught four touchdowns in just seven games when Watson targeted him. The one thing that Fuller and Watson have to do is develop that chemistry again.
“It’s getting there,” Watson told reporters Tuesday after joint training camp practice with the Green Bay Packers. “Will’s kind of just — we’re pacing ourselves. It’s only been nine or 10 months out of rehab, so I know that process of getting back in the groove and feeling yourself. Especially with him running full speed, stopping on a break, but also, we’re getting on the same page just like me and [DeAndre Hopkins].”
Both Watson and Fuller, along with Hopkins, have been playing together for two years. However, Watson has played 23 regular season games together compared to just 11 with Fuller
Said Watson: “With the chemistry we have, I have a lot of chemistry with Will and with Keke (Coutee), really all of the guys. There’s no alpha or no bad vibe that’s going on, especially on the offensive side. So, we’re all kind of on one page, and that’s the beauty of it.”
This season the Texans have one of the most explosive trios of wideouts in the NFL. As long as they can all three stays healthy, Houston should be firing on all cylinders for 2019. If for some reason Fuller or Coutee can not, then it will be another season of Hopkins doing it all alone.
