Texans QB Deshaun Watson keeps turning the page in the record books

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is no stranger to accolades, and in their 30-28 Openign Day loss at the New Orleans Saints he added another to his ever-growing collection.

After becoming the first player in NFL history to record over 4,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in the same season back in 2018, on Monday night Watson became the fastest player in NFL history to record at least 6,000 passing and 800 rushing yards, according to the Houston Texans public relations department. He managed to accomplish this feat in just 24 games.

Another feather to be added to his impressive cap added on Monday came in becoming the third player in NFL history to record 6,000 passing yards and 45 touchdowns through a player’s first 24 appearances. He joins Hall of Famer quarterbacks Dan Marino and Kurt Warner in this elite club.

The third-year QB shone in the season opener at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome passing for 268 yards, three touchdowns, rushing for 40 yards and a further touchdown. In fact, the Pro Bowler recorded a passer rating of 114.6, all of this despite being sacked on six occasions and hit on a total of 11.
