The Houston Rockets aren’t the only ones in the 713 excited to watch their newest point guard Russell Westbrook play. Houston Texans’ star quarterback Deshaun Watson joins the excitement for the Rockets’ new duo of Westbrook and James Harden, as he’s been a fan of the former MVP Westbrook for quite some time now.
Watson told ESPN’s 97.5 Jake Asman about his long-time fan-hood of the Rockets’ newest point guard, saying:
I’ve been a fan since I was a little kid. I just love his energy, I love his mentality, I love what he brings to the table each and every game. The way he plays each and every night, I can do the same for myself. So, I’m definitely going to be at the games for sure. Front row.
With the Rockets now boasting one of the NBA’s most electrifying duos, the Texans doing the same in the NFL with Watson and DeAndre Hopkins, and the Astros doing their thing en route to another playoff birth and World Series run, 2019 is shaping to be a fun year for Houston sports fans.
Hopefully, some of Westbrook’s energy and moxie can rub off on Watson, not like he needs it.
