Texans QB Deshaun Watson in good condition after 30-28 loss to Saints

Sprinting to the end zone behind Jordan Akins, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson had a decision to make: leap and potentially get a touchdown, or run out of bounds and try again.

Watson, being the character he is, decided to leap into the endzone and it paid off as he scored the Texans’ first touchdown of 2019. Then, to the dismay of many, he was slow to get up and visited the medical tent, after falling on his back.

Watson visited the medical tent twice for an injury that is yet to be named; however, fret not, because the quarterback is fine.

After the loss in New Orleans, Watson said: “I’m fine, I finished the game.”

The quarterback has built a bit of brand in Houston for his toughness and resilience no matter the injury. He’s played with a punctured lung and broken rib before, and in college, a torn ACL. He may have finished the game, but it could’ve been in pain.

However, coach Bill O’Brien reaffirms that Watson truly is good condition; he states that the quarterback suffered a minor injury on the touchdown scamper, and like Watson says he’s fine.

“He is a competitor,” said O’Brien. “On the one touchdown, he dove and landed on his butt. That probably didn’t feel real good, but he came back and is fine.”

It appears as if Watson will play next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
