Texans QB Deshaun Watson donates meals for hospitality workers who lost their jobs due to COVID-19

Houston Texans quarterback took care of Houston area hospitality workers on Friday.

According to a release from the Deshaun Watson Foundation, the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback donated meals for hundreds of hospitality workers who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The donation goes towards the Restaurant Workers Relief program. Maker’s Mark and The LEE Initiative have partnered up with Riel Restaurant to form a relief center, and 250 to 300 free meals will be produced per day through a program for restaurant employees who have lost their jobs or have taken a big hit to their paychecks.

“Every dollar counts, and we’re extremely grateful for Deshaun’s donation,” said Ryan Lachaine, chef and owner of Riel. “We could all use something to smile about right now. He’s putting food on the table for a lot of people in Houston who need it.”

Donations can be made at leeinitiative.org, and all money goes directly to feeding needy Houston hospitality workers.

Earlier this week, Watson made an impact in his hometown of Gainesville, Georgia, by donating a week’s worth of lunches to area first responders.
