Texans players to hold voluntary throwing sessions with QB Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans may be in the midst of the final stretch of the offseason and have no further obligations, but some players still want to perfect their craft.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, some Texans players will hold informal voluntary throwing sessions with quarterback Deshaun Watson.

One receiver who is looking forward to the chance to work with Watson, who has had an interesting offseason, is second-year wideout Vyncint Smith.

“Oh, yeah, we got together last summer,” Smith said. “We get together this summer to throw, build chemistry in a new environment or different environment with Deshaun and just have fun.”

The former Division II Limestone College product will meet with Watson out in Los Angeles for the throwing sessions.

“He’s a guy who has improved mentally, physically, just all-around,” Watson said. “He’s been doing a great job. He’s handled every challenge. He’s done a good job for us.”

The emphasis on offseason work just before training camp could be a sign of how close the Texans feel they are to being one of the top teams in the AFC, and that they need all the work they can get to stay on top of their game.
