Texans place safety Justin Reid on non-football injury list to start training camp

The Houston Texans have placed second-year safety Justin Reid on the active/non-football injury list prior to the start of training camp.

The former 2018 third-round draft pick from Stanford had wrist surgery following the end of the Texans’ season in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Though he was seen taking reps during organized team activities and mandatory minicamp, it appears the Texans are going to play it safe with the star of the 2018 draft class and ease him into the rigors of training camp.

Reid collected 88 combined tackles, intercepted three passes, returned one for a touchdown, forced a fumble, recovered two, and broke up 10 passes in 16 games as a rookie, 12 of which he started. The Texans have high expectations for Reid, who they hope to pair with free agent safety Tashaun Gipson to form a formidable presence on the back end. Now, the only thing in the way of the former Stanford Cardinal is his placement on the NFI list.
