Texans OT Seantrel Henderson left OTAs for drug test

Houston Texans offensive tackle left practice early on Wednesday, prompting fears of a potential injury. However, coach Bill O’Brien assured that it was nothing of the sort.

“He had a drug test,” O’Brien told the media Wednesday during the second week of organized team activities. “A mandatory drug test. I think we had 30 players had it. So, they had to string them all, whatever. That’s why he had to leave.”

The former Buffalo Bills offensive tackle joined the Houston Texans back in 2018, however, his debut season did not go to plan.

Henderson broke his ankle in the Texans’ Opening Day loss at the New England Patriots last season, which abruptly canceled Henderson’s season. A player the Texans were excited about heading into 2018, Henderson entered this offseason healthy once again and vying for a starting spot.

Henderson has been pegged as a potential starter at right tackle heading into this preseason, with rookies Tytus Howard, Max Scharping, and veteran former Pro Bowler Matt Kalil now all competing for starting spots at left tackle.
