Texans OG Zach Fulton has a shot to play against the Falcons

The Houston Texans, surprisingly, didn’t play starting right guard Zach Fulton in their 16-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. Fulton suffered a back injury pre-game, and though not listed inactive, Houston pulled him in favor of Greg Mancz.

There is a strong possibility that Fulton returns to the starting lineup for Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.

“I feel good about Zach. I think it’s day-to-day,” said coach Bill O’Brien on Wednesday. “He’ll have a shot [to play Week 5].”

Fulton is a mainstay for the Texans offensive line. Since signing with Houston in 2018, he’s started every game he’s played at right guard; missing three games in 2018 and one in 2019.

The Texans offensive line struggled without Fulton in the line-up against the Panthers. Mancz, according to Pro Football Focus, allowed two sacks in his 2019 debut.

For Houston, the hope is that Fulton comes back to solidify their five-man blocking group. Through the first four weeks, they’ve shifted through four different offensive line combinations.
