Texans offensive line wasn’t as horrendous as it looked

The Houston Texans offensive line may have been a part of quarterback Deshaun Watson leading the NFL with 62 sacks, but it may not have been as bad as perceived.

According to analytics from Pro Football Focus, the Texans offensive line actually was the 23rd-best in the league at the end of the 2018 season.

While the tackle position was still very much an issue for Houston, Zach Fulton and a healthy Nick Martin brought some competency to their pass blocking. Fulton earned a 79.1 pass-blocking grade on the season while Martin was at 80.9.

Offensive line is still a big issue for the Texans, and one that the club may address with either their first-round pick, twin second-round selections, or third-round choice.

The evaluation may be a positive step; perhaps the offensive line doesn’t need as big of an overhaul as originally thought.
