Texans offensive line still low in Pro Football Focus’ rankings

The Houston Texans offensive line continues to show improvement, allowing two sacks on the nimble Deshaun Watson in Week 3. However, Pro Football Focus remains low on the group that features two first-rounders and two second-rounders.

In their latest offensive line rankings, PFF place the Texans at No. 28; just ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins.

Interestingly enough, despite the low ranking, PFF’s Michael Renner is high on the improving line, saying:

“We’re only three games in, but the Texans look far from a total liability at this point. Laremy Tunsil has been a stalwart with a 75.3 pass-blocking grade so far and the line had a different feel this past week with Max Scharping in the lineup at left guard. He earned a 64.7 overall grade in his first start there after Tytus Howard struggled earlier in the season.”

PFF gave center Nick Martin the highest grade of the bunch with a 70.2. While the ranking may be low, Houston’s group is an improving one; by the end of the season, they may be closer to No. 1 than 32.
