Texans NT D.J. Reader pledges his support to tackle childhood cancer

Houston Texans defensive tackle D.J. Reader is easily one of the biggest personalities in that locker room, and today he’s shown yet again that he has one of the biggest hearts to match.

The fourth-year starter and former fifth-round pick out of Clemson posted on his Instagram on Friday that he will be pledging his stats this season to former Texans teammate Devon Still and his daughter Leah.

In the post, Reader stated: “This season I am celebrating with Devon and Leah Still on her officially being cancer free by pledging my stats to help their ‘Still Strong Foundation‘ tackle childhood cancer.”

He ended the post by encouraging others to “join the fight” at tackle-cancer.org. On this pledging website, the foundation explains their aim for this campaign.

A select group of NFL players are joining together with the Still Strong Foundation this season to Tackle Cancer. Fans and supporters can pledge any amount for their favorite player’s chosen stat throughout season. When you make your pledge you’re helping players from around the NFL have an impact and make their performance count on and off the field.

The Still Strong Foundation, started by former NFL football player Devon Still after his daughter’s fight with cancer, is committed to providing financial assistance to families whose children are battling cancer.

Still may have only been in Houston for one season back in 2016 when he made three appearances, but the now 30-year old former defensive end clearly left his mark on his teammates alongside his courageous daughter Leah.

You can read more about Leah’s journey on the foundation’s website where you can also read more about the fantastic work they have tackled thus far.
