Texans met with Vanderbilt cornerback Joejuan Williams

The Houston Texans know they need cornerback help, and did what they could to evaluate talent up and down the board at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

According to Cody Stoots of ESPN 97.5 in Houston, former Vanderbilt Commodores cornerback Joejuan Williams said in his press conference Sunday that he had a formal visit scheduled with the Texans before the conclusion of the combine.

At 6-3, 211 pounds, Williams is like a spider with his 32-inch length and 78-inch wingspan. However, with as deep as the secondary class is in 2019, he is projected as a third-round, fourth-round pick. The Texans gave up their fourth-rounder to Denver in exchange for receiver Demaryius Thomas’ services on Oct. 30, 2018 after receiver Will Fuller tore his ACL, a season-ending injury. If the Texans want Williams, they would have to take him in the third because he would not last until the Texans’ next pick in the fifth round.

Houston could stand to have some youthful depth at cornerback with starter Johnathan Joseph entering his 14th pro season and will be 35 years old to boot.
