Texans interview Chargers OC Joe Lombardi for head coach position

The Texans have interviewed Chargers offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi for their head coach opening.

Lombardi finished his first season as Los Angeles’ play-caller, where he engineered an elite offense.

Under Lombardi, the offense finished fifth in scoring (27.9 points per game), fourth in total yards (390.2 YPG), and third in passing (282.4 YPG).

Furthermore, Justin Herbert shattered multiple records, including the franchise record of touchdown passes. Austin Ekeler scored 20 touchdowns. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams each surpassed 1,000 receiving yards.

Before his time with the Chargers, Lombardi spent 12 seasons with the Saints as their quarterbacks coach. He spent two seasons as the Lions’ offensive coordinator before returning to New Orleans in 2016.
