Texans hire Jack Easterby as executive vice president of team development

The Houston Texans announced Tuesday the hiring of former New England Patriots team development director/character coach as the club’s new executive vice president of team development.

Easterby was with the Patriots from 2013-18, making him a part of the Patriots’ Super Bowl wins after the 2014, 2016, and 2018 seasons.

The real connection between the Texans coaching staff and Easterby is from 2011-12 with the Kansas City Chiefs. At that time, current Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was the interim coach and later full time coach for the AFC West club.

The Newberry College alumnus got his start in the NFL in 2005 with the Jacksonville Jaguars as assistant director of football operations. From 2006-10, he was the character coach for South Carolina’s athletic department, where he executed team/program-building for all Olympic sports and, according to a team release, “assisted in both academic and spiritual accountability initiatives, and served as a keynote speaker for multiple church and community events.”

Eastery and his wife, Holly, have two daughters, Houston and Harriet.
