Texans have 24 hours to grieve 30-28 loss to Saints, then on to Jaguars

24 hours. That’s how long the Houston Texans get to feel the emotions of winning or losing a game. After Monday night’s heartbreaking 30-28 loss to the New Orleans Saints, it will be the latter.

Defensive end J.J. Watt, who had the first stat-less game of his career on Monday, explains the 24 hours after a game; calling it a rule in the NFL.

“We have a 24-hour rule in the NFL,” said Watt after the game. “You get 24 hours to feel the emotions of it, whether its good or bad. So, we’ll feel the effects of this one for 24 hours.”

Those 24 hours are key to growth as a player, as they soak in the consequences of their actions. It’s ideal to do so.

Watt said: “If you don’t learn from it and let it hit you, then there’s no consequences for your actions. You have to feel those consequences to know you don’t want to feel them again.”

What are the Texans doing in those 24 hours, other than feel those consequences? Film room, according to left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

“We’re going to watch the film tomorrow and fix our mistakes, said Tunsil. “We had six sacks and we’ve got to fix that.”

With the Texans’ 24 hours to feel the emotions, and watch the film, according to Tusnsil, nearly over, their sights are now-set on beating the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.

“We’ll deal with those for 24 hours and then put it behind us and move on to Jacksonville,” Watt said.

The Jaguars will be led by a rookie quarterback in Gardner Minshew, who had to fill in for Nick Foles, who broke his collarbone in their 40-28 Sunday afternoon home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Both the Jaguars and Texans will be desperate to avoid an 0-2 start with an 0-1 AFC South division record at that.
