Texans guard Zach Fulton carted off with injury against the Cowboys

The injuries keep mounting for the Houston Texans first-team offense in their preseason tilt with the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

Offensive lineman Zach Fulton, who was the starting left guard for the Texans’ first-team offense, had to leave the field in the first quarter with an apparent ankle injury.

As the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain notes, it could have implications on the regular season as the Texans relied on the former Kansas City Chief to play center and both guard spots for them in the preseason.

One of the things coach Bill O’Brien wants to see from his offensive linemen is versatility, and now they will have to find ways to become even more versatile.

Versus the Green Bay Packers in the first preseason game, Fulton started at right guard. An injury to backup center Greg Mancz, who was playing for injured starter Nick Martin, forced Fulton at center with rookie Max Scharping at right guard. With rookie offensive lineman Tytus Howard’s broken finger on his left hand sidelining him until Week 1 at the New Orleans Saints, Fulton slid over to left guard against the Cowboys.
