Texans guard Senio Kelemete limps off field against the Cowboys

The Houston Texans interior offensive line took another blow as guard Senio Kelemete limped off with trainers during the club’s Saturday night contest with the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

Houston, who was already banged up coming into the game with left tackle Matt Kalil out since Aug. 15 per “coach’s discretion” and rookie lineman Tytus Howard, who had been starting at left guard, out until Week 1 with a broken finger on his left hand. During the first quarter, guard Zach Fulton, who had started at center and both guard spots for the Texans through three preseason games, left on a cart due to turf toe.

Then, Kelemete got hurt in the third quarter.

Kelemete had been playing some position flex for the Texans with taking snaps at center during the rash of injuries to hit the offensive line just leading up to the tilt with the Cowboys. Having Kelemete sidelined for any period of time puts pressure on the Texans coaching staff to find the best offensive line combination for Week 1 at the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 9.

The Texans did get a measure of good news as Kelemete returned to action after nearly 20 minutes on the sidelines.

Nonetheless, Houston’s offensive line is taking a beating from injuries.
