Quarterback Deshaun Watson is earning recognition for his outstanding performance in the Houston Texans’ Week 3 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
On Tuesday, the NFL announced Watson is a finalist for this week’s FedEx Air Player of the Week award for his performance. The quarterback completed 25 of his 34 passes (73.5%) for 351 yards and three touchdowns to no interceptions.
Watson’s nomination is his first of the 2019 season.
Watson outdueled Chargers’ Philip Rivers, as he boasted a 135.8 passer rating to Rivers’ 101.5, two touchdowns and a loss.
Watson is competing against Carolina Panthers’ Kyle Allen and Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes for the award. Each of the quarterbacks won their respective games on Sunday.
From Tuesday until Thursday at 2:00 p.m. CT, fans can vote for Watson to win the award at NFL.com/FedEx or the NFL Twitter page. The winner of the award will have FedEx awarding a $2,000 donation to the USO in their name.
