Texans fall 2 spots in latest USA TODAY NFL power rankings

The Houston Texans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, evened their record at 1-1, and took a share of the AFC South. That’s worth tumbling two spots in the latest USA TODAY NFL power rankings.

There was no real explanation given as to why the Texans dropped two spots down to No. 18 in the power rankings.

18. Texans (16): Lots of questionable personnel moves recently by this team, but acquisitions of RB Carlos Hyde, WR Kenny Stills appear to be working out.

Meanwhile the Indianapolis Colts jumped to No. 15 and the Tennessee Titans, who lost to the Colts at home, were at No. 16. The Jacksonville Jaguars were No. 23.

The Texans narrowly beat the Jaguars 13-12, which could be some of the reasoning. However, the Colts, who are the highest AFC South team, earned their first win by a two-point victory that should have been worth more if kicker Adam Vinatieri hadn’t missed two extra points.

The good news is the power rankings have no effect in the standings, and it’s only Week 2.
